Dec 7 th, Cruz Commercial, El Salvador to San Lorenzo , Honduras – 300km on Ca 1

It’s my 30 th Birthday! On the road!

Isaac and I took care of the rest of El Salvador in a few hours. Then we were on to the border.

I tried to cook some chorizo sausages on my cylinder heads

They blew off a short way down the road

The El Salvador side of the border was really quite and easy. Tons of tramitadores though. The Honduran side was an absolute nightmare. Chaos, people everywhere. It took four hours to get through and a little less than $50.

Great sunset

Isaac

We stayed in San Lorenzo , Honduras for the night. There was a incredible sunset that night. We got a good hotel for $14 for the night. AC, hot water, the whole nine yards. They let us park the bikes in the courtyard.

Dec 8 th San Lorenzo , Honduras to Leon , Nicaragua – 200km on Ca 1

We were both dreading the Honduras/Nicaragua border. There were a ton of horror stories surrounding it.

It took us about an hour and $12 to get out of Honduras ; we used a tramitadore on the Honduran side. On the Nicaragua side we used no tramitadores. There was only one over there and he looked lonely and made a sorry attempt to make himself a necessity. This border was so easy. The woman behind the counter was great. It cost us nothing and they didn’t even look at the bikes or the VIN numbers.

Leon , Nicaragua and the Bigfoot hostel was our next destination and we made it there in an hour or so. Someone threw a large rock in front of me from the top of a dump truck going in the opposite direction. It hit the pavement well in front of me and I dodged the rubble easily. It rattled me a little bit, but I figure that there are a certain amount of complete assholes everywhere.

We found Bigfoot hostel and loaded our bikes into a room off of the lobby.

It is easier to take all your gear off the bike when maneuvering into a building, as Isaac skillfully demonstrates

Jacqui Furneaux

About ten minutes after we arrived at Bigfoot Hostel, Jacqui Furneaux arrived.

When I asked Jacqui if she was doing an around the world trip she replied,” Well I didn't mean to". Apparently she purchased her Royal Enfield and planned to ride for six months or until she got sick of riding. Well after 6 and a half years she is finally ready to head back to England to see her new granddaughter. She has travelled in the following countries: India , Pakistan , Nepal , Bangkok , Thailand , Malaysia , Cambodia , Australia , New Zealand , Ecuador , Colombia , and all of Central America .
